If you're new to the fandom or have no idea what the hell is going on, here's a quick guide to get you up-to-date with the Freedom Wars universe.
Panopticon
By definition, a panopticon is a circular prison with the cells placed around the outer well so that prisoners may be observed at all times, and this is exactly how a Panopticon in Freedom Wars looks. Resembling the nuclear power plant from The Simpson's, these massive metal structures reach into the sky and can be seen from miles away. Various thick cables run from the old wreckage of what used to be a city to the panopticon carry precious WILL'o to supply the WILL'o generators to keep the massive structure running at full capacity.
WILL'o
WILL'o is the power source used to power quite literally everything used by the Panopticon and it's inhabitants. Even Sinners are permitted to use it, if only while out on the battlefield. From Abductors, a Sinner's Thorn and accessories, no Panopticon can function without it.
Thorn
The Thorn, or Ibara Hookshot, is a grappling device used by Sinners and some government officials whom are accompanying Sinners on the field. It takes the form of a coloured thorn, depending on what Type the Thorn is, that could around the user's non-dominant arm. The Thorn can be used to grapple around one's environment or to latch into an Abductor to pull it to the ground to make it easier to eliminate it, or to extract a civilian from its core. The Thorn runs off a self-replenishing supply of WILL'o, however, the power source is quick to deplete.
Thorn types are as follows:
Binding: Makes binding and pulling down an Anductor easier. Grants the user a small boost of strength.
Healing: Attaches to a sinner and sends a WILL'o charge into the target to partially heal wounds.
Shielding: Creates a small wall to temporarily protect sinners from oncoming attacks.
Accessory
An accessory is an android assigned to watching over a Sinner to assist them in battle and to ensure they are constantly contributing to their Panopticon. An accessory is able to add and deduct an Sinner's sentence as necessary.
Abductor
An Abductor is a giant mechanised goliath used to collect resources and civilians from rival Panopticons, as well as assist Sinners in battle and protect its Panopticon during Retribution. Abductors can come in many different classes and equipped with various weapons and defence mechanisms and are used according to the situation it will be used in.
Abductors used in Sinner's Pride are as follows:
Biped and Biped tank-class
Quadruped and Quadruped tank-class
Ramosa/Special T-type
Paradox/Special S-type
Oltatum and Peltatum
Dionaea
Retribution
Retribution is an event that happens infrequently when On High send animal-class Abductors to the Earth's surface to attack the Panopticons that dot the surface. Retribution always ends in severe destruction and many lives, of Sinner, civilian and government alike, lost.
On High
A mysterious civilisation located in the sky responsible for delivering Retribution. Some say that some people from On High have descended from their civilisation and have migrated into the Panopticons on Earth.
Hourai[/i]
Hourai is a hostile Panopticon known to attack anyone and everyone and take whatever they want. They have a reputation for bullying other Panopticons into doing their bidding, as well as being known to be home to a Sinner in possession of his own Abductor.
More will be added at a later date, and as the story progresses
