It’s not “whose fault,” this is your fault.
It’s not my fault, this is your fault.
Even though I sensed your eyes on me.
Even though I know your gentle hands.
| It had been a long day for Kari, to say the least. Usually, she didn't like to take on more than one mission in one day, but if she wanted to keep the respect of her fellow sinners then occasionally she had to take on more than what she was comfortable with. And by god was she uncomfortable. One of her superiors in charge of sinner activity had sent her on a mission to take out an enemy Panopticon strike team and steal back the resources they stole, as well as a civilian they got their dirty hands on. A mere hour after completing her assignment, a long time friend of hers, whom she had known since the beginning of her training and had lived through the massacre unleashed upon her first attack team, had asked for her assistance in retrieving a stolen accessory. The two had been helping one another since their first assignment, and Kari didn't want to let her friend down now, so she reluctantly agreed. The mission retrieval didn't take long, but she had sustained a few minor injuries. It was nothing beyond bruising, but it still hurt. |
Not wanting to stay in her cell for the remainder of the day, Kari took to the warren with her accessory in close pursuit. Admittedly, her accessory's constant surveillance was annoying, but if she didn't do anything wrong, he was barely there. Then again, she had a bad habit of accidentally adding to her sentence...
For a while, Kari milled around the warren, occasionally stopping to talk with other sinners or the less arrogant civilians. She found it relaxing, walking about the warren, navigating the remains of ruined buildings. Sometimes she had found herself lost in the maze of concrete and had to rely on her accessory to guide her out.
Today, however, she didn't feel like engaging the suspicious sinners with a sentence three times larger than that of CODE 1 sinners. For now, she just stayed around the centre of the area, leaning against the railing and thinking about contributing to the Panopticon so as to not evoke her accessory's wrath.
